Spring is knocking on our doors
Nature is gradually waking up, and the sweet scent of spring is in the air. Spring is also the season when love seems to spring forth with greater intensity than before. However, did you know that love is in the air year-round in Slovenia? Not only is the word love featured in the country's name, love birds can also celebrate Valentine's Day as well as St. Gregory’s Day which falls on 12 March. Birds are supposed to get wed on this day, according to folklore. On this occasion, you can pamper your close ones with delicious Slovenian dishes that have been granted a designation of geographical origin.
However, if you prefer to frolic around in the snow, early springtime in Slovenia still offers enough opportunity for this pursuit. Also note that early spring is the season to cheer on the ski jumpers in Planica, where the Ski Jumping World Cup will be wrapped up for the season in spectacular fashion as per tradition.
